Shooting in Iceland with long exposure on the IQ260
"Iceland is one of the most remarkable countries in the world. It's the most vulcanicly active region on earth. It offers an unbelievable challenge to the photographer. It has extraordinary geology, the most dramatic coast line you'll see anywhere, and very high contrast.I'm at the end of the Snæfellsnes at the far west. Locally, it's known as the end of the world. Behind me is Snæfellsjökull, the great volcano that dominates this part of the world. I've been prone to see what are being blown against these black, vulcanic rocks. This country is a great opportunity to test the qualities of the IQ260. This has a 13 f-stop of dynamic range and that is the best there's ever been. It's very high resolution. For a landscape photographer where fine detail, subtlety, and tonal quality is essential, this could be a really exciting development.

"One of the really exciting features of the IQ260 is that it is wirelessly compatible with an iPad which means that I can operate the camera standing comfortably here not even looking at the scene. Picture is made and within a few seconds the image appears on screen, beautifully rendered. One of the exciting things about that is that as an old-fashioned large format photographer, I can also view the image upside down. This allows me to appreciate whether it's well-composed or not in a way that I prefer. It also gives me a histogram and essentially the detail that I need to prove that the picture has worked. Perhaps most importantly, the feeling of connection with the finished image is restored in a way that I don't remember since I was a large format photographer.

"Iceland is one of the most remarkable countries in the world. It's the most volcanically active region on earth. It's also extremely cold in the winter because it's so far north although it does have a maritime climate. It offers an unbelievable challenge to the photographer. It has snow fields, ice caps, extraordinary geology, and the most dramatic coastline you'll see anywhere, and very high contrast. It also has the magical possibility of seeing the aurora borealis (the northern lights), one of the most amazing natural phenomena to be seen anywhere.
